Two crafty top lawyers - one black, the other white - are approached by wealthy white businessman Charles Strickland. He is accused of assaulting a black woman in a hotel. While the media has already tried him as a "sexist" and especially as a "racist," he claims to be innocent. When the black attorney in training, Susan, gets involved a little too much in the case, a razor-sharp battle erupts at the law firm in which guilt, sex, lies and race form a vicious cocktail. How black and white is this case really?
