During the Open Ateliers of the Rijksakademie, the artists show their work in the studio where they have worked during the past year.

Het Atelier is a scaled down version of the actual studio that has been turned half around its axis.

You cannot enter the scale model, but you can view it through the windows. These windows are too high in the actual studio to see through.

Looking through the window you realize that you are looking at the place where you are standing in the actual studio.

On the left photo you see one of the two rear windows of the actual studio on the back wall and a scale model of the other window of the actual studio in the foreground. This photo was taken from the small space in studio behind glass.

The photo on the right (this position is not visible to the visitor) shows the Fluorescent lighting of the actual studio space and the Fluorescent lighting to scale in the scale studio. In addition, the roof construction is clearly visible. The wall in the scale workshop that is not visible to the viewer is unfinished.
